Jun 23 Beauty Thoughts VII: Life Without Lemmings

I mentioned in the beginning of the year that I was much more into complexion products. That hasn't changed, and it's actually morphed into a greater interest in skincare rather than makeup. In a way I feel as though I'm going back to my roots, as skincare has always been my first love.

So that's my first admission, of sorts!

The second is that for the second month in a row, I'm not lusting over anything!!! I mentioned in my May Recap that I had no lemmings, and even asked what your favorites were or for any ideas of things to try out. I did get some suggestions, but still a month later I'm not googly-eyed with my heart racing over anything. SO. WEIRD.

I mean, seriously I've been looking everyday on Sephora, Nordstrom and CultBeauty for products to try. For makeup, I'll see an item that piques my interest...click to investigate further...then decide it either isn't different enough from what I already have or I know I won't use it enough to justify spending the $. Skincare-wise, I'll see things...click...then decide eh, what I have now (pre-BBL laser treatment) has been working really well and I don't need xyz right now. Part of that is that I've had a lot of duds this year - to the point where it's getting annoying.

Not too long ago the email I had been dying waiting for finally arrived...the CultBeauty Summer goody bag!!! So I go and look at the contents and decide about 1/2 the products I wouldn't use, and the other 1/2 seemed rather lackluster and kind of a yawn. I made a cart, of course, but just couldn't quite click checkout.

I changed my cart probably 1/2 a dozen times. What kept me coming back is that I really wanted to order a couple more of my favorite makeup remover, the Bio-Essence Miracle Bio Water Jelly Makeup Remover and they were running a gwp where I could get a full size (in addition to the Summer goody bag).

Apparently I wasn't the only one who wasn't entirely impressed with the Summer goody bag, because I received 2 reminder emails - that never happens! The goody bags are usually gone within 24 hours!

So after the last reminder email I finally hit checkout because I didn't want to run out of the cleanser before the next CultBeauty goody bag ha ha! Finally decided to get the Aurelia Probiotic Miracle Cleanser that I've had on my list, as well as a Tammy Fender cleanser and a shampoo and an OI shampoo & conditioner. Which was just enough to get the goody bag!

All that to say, it's actually kind of nice not to be crazy-palm-sweaty lusting after anything, so I feel like maybe I've finally hit my stride?!!! My stride meaning, I've finally hit that sweet spot where I can be really rational about my purchases rather than like Golum!

Personally I think that's a really good thing, and makes my <#firstworldproblem> life so much easier! On the blog front however, it makes me kind of nervous. I mean, this is predominantly a beauty blog. What am I gonna blog about if I'm not trying enough new products??? I get bored with other blogs when I see so many of the same things over and over and over again (especially when it's across multiple blogs), and I don't want to do that here.

So I'm not really sure what to do, and have been trying to brainstorm ideas. If you have any suggestions of things you'd like to see in this space, please let me know!!! I'm also contemplating throwing a bit of fashion in the mix - if I do though, don't worry it won't be anything crazy. I have a pretty minimal wardrobe and wouldn't have a ton to show anyway ha ha!
