Swatched: Smashbox Limitless 15 Hr Wear Cream Shadow in Topaz, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Strut
Smashbox Limitless 15 Hr Wear Cream Shadow in Topaz, $19/.17oz @ Sephora, ULTA, Smashbox.com
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Strut, $19/.16 oz @ Benefitcosmetics.com, Macy's. I purchased this from online Sephora, but it looks like all the colors of this product are out of stock. Is Sephora no longer going to carry this item?!!
**UPDATE**
Becca @ The Beauty Sample said in the comments below that it's oos from Sephora because Benefit repackaged the Creaseless Cream shadows. Here's a link to show what they look like...click HERE to read it from Karen @ Makeup & Beauty Blog. Thank you, Becca!!!
I really like the idea of a cream shadow that will stay put, come-hell-or-high-water!! I've tried a few cream shadows, but they either were too shimmery, too metallic or didn't have quite the right undertone. Enter Smashbox and Benefit!!!
Up front I'll say that I have to use primer when wearing either of these 2 cream shadows. But I have super duper oily eyelids, and have to use primer when wearing any type of eye product...well if I want it to stay put!!
Both are *ahem* creamy and easy to apply. Smashbox's Topaz is slightly creamier and softer to the touch, but this in no way affects its staying power. I've worn both through a 12 hour day with no problems!! Strut also smudges out very nicely, and I've found it to work well both as a liner and a shadow.
I like to use Topaz as an all over color, and it's a subtle way to help brighten my eye area when applied along the lower lash line. On the lid it has a little less shimmer than in these swatches, and it's a great MLBB (my LIDS but better!!) color...you know...great for that no makeup makeup look!!!
Strut is a blue-toned dark grey. I'm a whiz at describing colors, right?!! Ha ha :-) I love that it's not straight up dark grey or black...it has enough dimension to be interesting but not too crazy. Plus it changes tone nicely when layered with a different color powder shadow on top, such as a taupey brown or even a plum!
So that's that!! Short and sweet...and I would totally buy these again, and in more colors!!
