Recap: July & August 2016

While I'd like to say I've been super productive during my time off from the blog, but that simply hasn't been true ha ha!! I've been watching a lot of Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video - some of my favorite finds have been Stranger Things, Elementary, Mr. Robot, Touch (ok not a favorite but it was entertaining!), Suits, Hotel Hell and Madame Secretary.

Admittedly I've also become slightly addicted to Pokemon Go, and was really annoyed when they took the tracker away. Hopefully the new one they are testing will be in an update soon????!!! It's also been fun playing in different cities while on layovers!

I mentioned in my previous post that my makeup life has ben pretty boring, but I should have clarified by explaining that I mainly meant I haven't bought much. I've seriously been enjoying my pared down makeup routine, and am just THAT happy with what I have right now! My biggest makeup news, however, is about these two gems...

Chantecaille Ella Cheek Shade & Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation in Fawn

I HIT PAN on another blush, Chantecaille Cheek Shade in Ella. Oh, and I also finally FINISHED the Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation in Fawn!!!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!!

For a short while before I hit pan on the Chantecaile, I was a little annoyed with myself for having purchased 2 backups, but now I'm really glad I have them. I still highly recommend the Tom Ford foundation, but won't be repurchasing it at this time. I would like to get through more foundation before I purchase a new bottle of anything, at least for a couple more months.

On the chopping block

As usual, I've been purging. The latest victims:

Osaka Renaissance Cleansing Gel - This is my backup. I'm almost finished with my first bottle, and I'm finding the slight residue it leaves to be annoying. I can get the residue off, but it takes some effort and I don't think it's worth it anymore. I still think it's a really soothing and comforting cleanser, as long as you don't mind the residue or the elbow grease to get it off.

Oskia Renaissance Brightlight Serum - I really wanted to love this but I didn't like its tacky feel. I also don't think it did much for me, as mentioned in the link. Especially with my laser treatments now finished - kinda hard to compete with those results.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in green - Wasn't entirely impressed. I bought this vs. others I swatched because it seemed like it blended much more easily than the others. However, I've realized that's actually not good for what I needed - I found the UD too thin and didn't cover enough redness to really make a difference.

Armani Master Corrector in 1 Pink - I haven't used this in I don't even know how long? Originally I bought it because the Bobbi Brown Corrector was feeling a little heavy, but I've learned how to work with it and now find I don't need both. And I prefer the TSA, pot-friendly version of the Bobbi Brown.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter - I still absolutely LOVE the radiant effect this gives, but for some reason it has been giving my skin irritation bumps. I'm wondering if the laser treatments have changed my skin a bit?

Burberry Fresh Glow BB Cream SPF20 in Light - Thought I was good with the color but, lately when I've worn it It seems too dark. It's not terrible, but it's been enough to keep me from reaching for it. There's still a good amount left, so I think someone else will enjoy and use it more.

Hellooooo KonMari!!

I started reading Marie Kondo's book awhile ago, but lost interest because she echoed general philosophies I already have and I bought the book hoping for some newness. That said, the way she 'folds' clothes kinda stuck with me, though I never actually did it. Until recently that is!!! I decided my workout/lounge/pj drawer needed some purging/organization and decided to go ahead and give the standup folding thing a try. And guess what?! I love it!!! So much nicer to see everything, and I've been varying more of what I choose to wear out of this drawer.

I was catching up on Instagram with some of my favorite people, and saw this pic from Ms. Hirons. Decided to order the Chelated Zinc and the Spatone Liquid Iron - I'm forever and a day tired and feeling blah...hoping these will help!! Wasn't sure about the Folate though, so thought I would just start out with the 2 to see if they make a difference. Have you tried these? What supplements do you take?

...and I leave you with my new favorite meme that's been keeping me laughing for WEEKS!!!

How has your Summer been?!!!
