Feb 6 Samples & GWP's...A Reality Check...

It's that time of year again...when all the big GWP's start showing up - Nordstrom just had one (and has always has smaller ones), as has Beauty.com. SpaceNK is coming up, not to mention the one I wait twice a year for...the Barneys Love Yourself Event. Oh, and CultBeauty should be sometime soon-ish. And those are just the ones I remember off hand, not the ones that I constantly stumble upon!!

Today I received no less than 3 GWP little goody bags full of samples from Nordstrom, along with regular samples that were added with each beauty order. When I placed the 2 orders in order to get said samples, my heart was aflutter!!! My mind was racing, thinking OH-OH-OH-WOOOOW-I-WANT-ALL-OF-THEM!!! Knowing full well at the time I probably wouldn't use most of them, but I saw a few I knew for sure I was used and the rest was just gravy.

They arrived!!! YAAAAAAY!!!

Then instead of shoving the samples away into their appropriate piles (give away, skincare, makeup, not sure), I decided to do a little sample/GWP self examination. Let's start, shall we?!!

And forgive the un-pretty desk pictures, but I thought I'd take you along in my thoughts as I'm seeing them which includes being at my desk in my fuzzy skull pants!! Anyway!

Above is the whole lot that arrived today. 3 sample bags and some single samples.

First up, regular samples.

Red x's are things I know I won't use. 3 out of 6 potential samples used, not terrible.

GWP bag #1: 0 out of 8 samples. I know I won't use any of these. Blah. Why did I bother???

GWP bag #2: 4 out of 6. Not bad!

GWP bag #3: 4 out of 6. Again, not bad!!

But let's total it all out:

11 potentially used samples out of 26. Less than 1/2. And that's just what I *think* I'll use. In reality what I ACTUALLY use is always, always less. I don't know if I'll even use 1/2???

But let's be generous and say I'll use 7 of them. 7 samples used out of 26 received. Seems a bit wasteful???

LOL my point in sharing this is to say I think I've reached my GWP/sample gluttony threshold, and my big beauty goal this year is to REALLY, REALLY, REALLY try to not buy things merely to get more samples I probably won't use. Not to say I won't get any, but geeeeeeez I don't need all of them!! :-P And hopefully by documenting this first step I'll stick to it!!!
