Burberry Kisses Lip Gloss in Cameo Nude & Melon, Burberry First Kiss Glossy Lip Balm in Rose Blush
I've been in slightly less of a lipstick mood, and have wanted to venture into glosses again. I used to have a lot more, but my gloss stash is so tiny that I feel as though there are only a few that I end up wearing over and over: Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil, Burberry Lip Glow in Trench Kiss (from last Holiday?) and the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Seduction. When I saw the new Burberry formulas on Sephora, I went ahead and placed an order!

The Burberry Kisses Lip Gloss is a reformulation of the Lip Glow. I wasn't too familiar with the original Lip Glow line of colors, but from what I gather many of the colors are the same along with some new ones!
The original Lip Glow formula was heavily fragranced. I found it hung around for a long time after application and I didn't care for it. I ended up getting rid of all my Lip Glows except for Trench Kiss as mentioned above, but only because the fragrance in Trench Kiss for some reason doesn't seem as strong?
Anyway! Good news!! There still is a faint hint of fragrance, but I don't notice it at all on my lips. YAY!
The formula is slightly more tacky/sticky, but in a good way - it means better staying power. I still don't think it has amazing staying power, but it definitely is an improvement over the Lip Glows. And I find these to be hydrating and very comfortable to wear.
At first glance, this is a normal sponge tip applicator. But it actually 'gives' just a little when put to my lips. Not sure why they would do this? It seems sturdy enough, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed the tips don't break off at some point. We'll see!
Other than the slightly floppy applicator, I really like this gloss and am really happy Burberry decided to revamp these glosses! Swatches are near the end of this post...
The Burberry First Kiss Glossy Lip Balm is a new product to the Burberry lip lineup. It has a white, ceramic-tip applicator that might seem like a gimmick, but I actually find it is really nice - slightly cooling, and helps the glossy/balm feel soothing. Oh, and NO fragrance with this one!
And yes, this really is a gloss/balm hybrid!! Not as sticky/tacky as a gloss, but not quite as heavy as a balm (& I'm talking traditional balms here, not the oil-type balms such as the Hourglass one). It actually feels pretty light, yet has a slick feel that's still manages to be moisturizing.
On my lips the finish ends up being slightly more glossy than a balm, but not nearly as glossy as a traditional gloss. That said, Appu @ Makeup, Beauty and More says it's glossy on her so it might be a little different for everyone. Wear time isn't great - 2-3 hours at most. But I don't mind because I really like the subtle hint of color it gives! Overall, I think this is a unique formula and I've really been enjoying this one a lot!!!
Here are daylight swatches. Please keep in mind these are all heavy swatches, but on my lips they actually end up more sheer...and the Rose Blush Glossy Lip Balm is very sheer. You can see Rose Blush also looks glossy here - not sure whey that disappears so much on my lips? Cameo Nude does have shimmer.
