***Formally the Gummy Vision blog***

I'm a lady in her 40's who loves her beauty products! No makeup makeup is my game & pretty packaging gets me every time, though I'm willing to forgive that with skincare (but only if the product is effective!).

I'm a Stewardess who prefers quiet spaces and places, but I could talk all beauty all the time! Please enjoy your visit!

Swatched: Burberry Pale Barley & Rosewood Wet And Dry Silk Eyeshadows (New Formula)

Swatched: Burberry Pale Barley & Rosewood Wet And Dry Silk Eyeshadows (New Formula)

I was quite taken aback at the news that Burberry reformulated their shadows. WHY???? No, really...W H Y??? Makes no sense, but goes along with the haphazard nature of the Burberry line since they decided to take everything in house - ahem, referring to the untimeliness of their releases, lack of breadth in new products and general disappointment with say, the terrible cheek tints from last Summer. Or was it Spring??

It disheartens me to say all that, because I'm a huge fan the Burberry brand - from the clothing to accessories to beauty! Price prohibits me from owning much other than beauty, but I still love the aesthetic. I really, really, really, REALLY hope things improve.

But!! I was still super curious to see how this new Wet and Dry formula (as well as colors) compared to the old...

***All items purchased by me.

Here is Pale Barley, the new version on top,vs. the old (depotted) version on bottom. The color is definitely different, with the newer version being a bit lighter and cooler in tone. Maybe not a big enough difference for some, but the new Pale Barley suits my skin tone better. Truth be told, I rarely wear the old Pale Barley and mainly keep it just because (and for reference). But the new Pale Barley I've been reaching for quite often!

Here is Rosewood, the new version on top,vs. the old (depotted) version on bottom. This one I don't think they changed the undertone of the color, but the new one is a little lighter. Even though the color doesn't seem to have changed, I do prefer the old Rosewood - maybe the fact that it's a bit more intense makes it look different once applied?

L - Pale Barley, R - Rosewood. Slightly closer view to see that the amount of shimmer seems to be the same. Performance-wise the old and new formulas seem to be on par. However, I didn't and most likely won't test the 'wet' capabilities of the new formula since that's not my preference. To the touch both formulas seem to be as creamy, lovely and smooth...though sometimes I think my mind plays tricks and one seems to be more creamy and buttery than the other...but really I think it's just in my head. When it's that close I don't think you can be disappointed with the new formula.

Here they are in the shade, all heavily swatched.

Sunlight swatches are below.

For all sets of swatches, shade and sunlight, I'm hard pressed to see the cooler tone difference in the new Pale Barley...except that the old Pale Barley has a little more warm shimmer to it. I can't tell the difference between the old and new Rosewood swatches. However, on the eye they each seem different to me.

I'm keeping the new Pale Barley, but the new Rosewood is going back. I think the new formula is on par with the old, but given the differences with these 2 colors I'm really curious how all the other colors stack up to their old counterparts. Hopefully the colors aren't too different, though I really was surprised at how different the 2 Pale Barleys are on my eyes!
