Swatch & Comparison: Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Storm Grey & Graphite

I love Burberry's shadow formula, and was really excited to finally see 2 new colors in Nordstrom the other day. They are Storm Grey No. 27 and Graphite No. 28. They kind of reminded me of the non-glitter colors in the Tom Ford She Wolf palette, so I went ahead and did some comparison swatches. Storm Grey also seemed reminiscent of a grey version of Pale Barley, so I did comparison swatches with it as well.

Same beautiful packaging, with included sponge tip applicator and velvet pouch.

Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Storm Grey No. 27, $29 @ Nordstrom.com. As of this writing this color is not yet on the Burberry site, nor on Saks or Net-A-Porter online. I purchased mine in a Nordstrom store.

Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Graphite No. 28, $29. As of this writing this color is not yet on Nordstrom.com, the Burberry site, Saks online nor on Net-A-Porter. I purchased mine in a Nordstrom store.

Storm Grey - L, Graphite - R

These change a bit depending on the light. Sometimes they lean more taupe, grey, brown and sometimes Graphite looks like it has a faint hint of green.

They both have visible shimmer in the pan, Graphite more so. But the shimmer is very subtle that is typical of other Burberry shadows and doesn't translate into anything sparkly or over the top.

Another angle of Storm Grey that shows the shimmer a little better.

Graphite

Sunlight

Storm Grey is every bit as smooth, creamy and soft as the other Burberry shadows in my collection. Graphite, however seems a tad bit drier. I wouldn't actually describe it as dry, it's just not quite as creamy/buttery as Storm Grey and others I own. Storm Grey applies just as smoothly, Graphite does not. I find it takes a LOT to build the Graphite color up, and in the process doesn't seem to apply as evenly as I'd like or expect.

Storm Grey and Graphite as compared to Tom Ford She Wolf and Burberry Pale Barley. Took an additional picture in the shade to get another comparison angle. This one really shows how Graphite can lean slightly brown depending on the light, and I'm guessing depending on skin tone.

Sunlight, all heavy swatches.

Shade, all heavy swatches.

I think Storm Grey is beautiful!! Not sure I'm going to keep Graphite - I'm not that happy with the slightly drier texture and when I tried to build it up on my lids I ended up with quite a bit of fallout. Plus, when it's not built up it looks too similar to Storm Grey once on my lids...and even as I did build it up, when I softened the edges it again ended up looking too much like Storm Grey. I'd rather keep Storm Grey and just use something else for a darker color that I already have (like the darkest color in Tom Ford She Wolf).

Have you picked up these colors yet?? What do you think??
