Lip scrubs are something I've never been interested in because I've always thought my wash cloth in the shower trick worked just fine!! But one day I was on the Nordstrom site looking over the Sara Happ line of products and WHOOPS the Lip Scrub in Sparkling Pink Grapefruit somehow ended up in my basket. Then I figured since it was my first lip scrub I should probably get another one from a different brand so I'd have something to compare it to...and that's when the Bite Beauty Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub landed on my doorstep!

Sara Happ Lip Scrub in Sparkling Pink Grapefruit $24/1oz @ Nordstrom, Dermstore, Blue Mercury
I like the look of the packaging...cute box...simple and clean design...but once I picked the container up I was already disappointed I paid $24 for this thing. The container is all plastic which isn't a bad thing at all, but it feels very cheap (for lack of a better description), kinda flimsy and not at all like an even remotely mid or high end item.
Packaging aside this scrub tastes delicious!!!!! Most of it has to do with the sugar, but it does also sorta taste like grapefruit...reminds me of gummy grapefruit candy.
The texture on this is pretty thick...I actually have to dig my finger in to get the scrub out.
Here you can see all the sugar granules much better.
Ok, so getting this scrub to stay on my lips is a chore and a half. In fact, I have to make sure to position myself over the sink so that all the sugar bits that fall off will land in the sink instead of on the counter. The formula isn't sticky enough to stay on the lips that well and much of it ends up everywhere but your lips. I guess that means I'll be able to use this up more quickly?!! LOL darn that silver lining! Wait...does that really count??
The sugar doesn't stay on my lips as much as I'd like, but what does manage to stick does an amazing job at getting the circulation going. Sounds strange but it feels REALLY good. You know when you go to the hair salon and get the shampoo scalp massage...yes it feels like that but for your lips! This also feels very moisturizing while working the circulation mojo.
I can't say this does much for exfoliating my lips. The wash cloth still beats this scrub by a lot. EDIT: forgot to add this works much better after a shower or washing your face...the skin on your lips will be much softer to work with.
Getting the scrub off is a bit tricky. I can't tissue it off because the tissue falls apart and pieces end up on my lips. The best way I've found is to get a damp cloth to remove it.
This does leave my lips feeling soft and feeling all googly from the massaging/circulation action and I love the way it tastes. Other than that I'm not super thrilled. I'm not even thrilled. Actually I definitely won't buy this again, but I'll see it through to empty! Edit: ok sorry that probably sounds really negative, but the whole point of a lip scrub is to be scrubby and exfoliating. So if this scrub doesn't do so well in the exfoliating department, then I feel it kind of defeats the intended purpose and doesn't garner too much further excitement.

Onto Bite Beauty!!!
Bite Beauty Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub $18/.28 oz @ Sephora
Hands down the packaging on this little scrub totally beats Sara Happ. It's got a bit more weight to it, and the lid is so much more well done...looks chic and is sturdy!
I was a bit surprised when I opened the jar...it looked a bit like a smoothie?? The taste is alright...it tastes somewhat like cherries in a somewhat artificial way.
Definitely looks far and away different from Sara Happ...
Here you can see the exfoliating beads much better. And the beads are exactly that...they are beads...as in smooth on all sides...as in they don't do anything once on my lips...
Seriously. This feels more like a lip butter with big weird round things in it that you are wondering how the heck the round things ended up in there in the first place. The texture and feel of this remind me of the Korres Lip Butters. This is very conditioning and my lips feel soft once I wipe it off. But exfoliated???? NO. Massaged like the Sara Happ???? NO. I feel kinda bad saying so but this really has no business being called a scrub because it doesn't scrub!!! Absolutely will not repurchase.

And so goes my lip scrub experience ha ha! Not so good, but at least I halfway like the Sara Happ version. Even if it doesn't exfoliate as well as my trusty dusty wash cloth, that massaging/circulation thing cannot be replicated by the cloth no matter how hard I try! So I'll look forward to finishing it off :-)
