Reviews: L'Occitane Whipped Hand Cream & Whipped Body Cream

Awhile ago, I saw this Instagram pic from @bellachiqueblog...

...and have been on the lookout for this new range from L'Occitane ever since! BTW, if you don't already follow Teri, her Instagram feed always has beautiful pics & her blog, BellaChique, is just as gorgeous!

The L'Occitane hand cream has been a staple for some time now, so I was super curious to see how this whipped lineup would be different. I couldn't find the products at Nordstrom or Sephora, so I was happy to find myself in a L'Occitane stand alone store. And right as I walked in, there was a display of all the new whipped products!

L'Occitane Whipped Hand Cream

I like this just as much as the regular shea butter hand cream, and am struggling to find any differences?? It's just as deeply hydrating, with moisture that feels soothing. It sinks in quickly, and seems to have the same, signature L'Occitane scent (which I really love!). The Whipped version feels slightly lighter in texture, but only by a little bit. Overall, this is a beautiful hand cream!! I can't say I really prefer the Whipped over the regular or vice versa - and there's no difference in price so...yeah! The only difference I can see is that the Whipped version has 25% shea butter vs. the regular version with 20%, and the small difference in texture. Both area really effective!

L'Occitane Whipped Body Cream

This was the first body cream/butter/lotion product I've tried from the brand. I have since tried the body lotion, and can say I much prefer that to this Whipped Body Cream.

The good...

This is very hydrating with moisture that lasts a good 24 hours on me. The whipped texture feels light, spreads easily enough and is quickly absorbed. Oh, yes...this also has the signature L'Occitane scent! All good things in my book!

Buuuuut...there are a couple of things I don't like.

1. This doesn't make my skin feel soft. At all. It ends up feeling a bit...tacky? Not sure how to put it into words, but it's that feeling of a cream that is protective and really holds moisture in...the kind where if you wash your hands/body the product doesn't rinse right off and you can still feel it on your skin. Not smooth, not soft...just protected. Which is a good thing if you are in harsher climates or are crazy dry. But I'm pretty good about applying body cream after every shower so I don't need all that. I just want lasting moisture and for my skin to feel soft.

2.  This sucker goes way too quickly!!! Check out the pic below...and that's after only THREE uses (the tub came almost full)!! Granted, I do lotion up my entire body including my back...but that seems crazy! I've used this a couple more times since taking the picture, and I don't see it lasting beyond a few more uses. At $24/2.46oz container...a container that will last approximately a week of continued use...hmmm...no, thanks.

I'm really glad I tried this (you know, curiosity killed the cat and all ha ha), but I don't see myself purchasing it on a regular basis because of the cost per use basis. Oh, and because I don't care for how it makes my skin feel. I think the only way I would buy this again would be to travel with - since it's not a runny cream or lotion it wouldn't count against liquid restrictions :-)

I do think the Whipped Hand Cream is worth checking out, but I'm not so sure I can give the Whipped Body Cream a solid thumbs up unless you need something heavy duty and protective. Both can be found in L'Occitane stores and online...
