I'm a lady in her 40's who loves her beauty products! No makeup makeup is my game & pretty packaging gets me every time, though I'm willing to forgive that with skincare (but only if the product is effective!).

Skincare Clean Out

I'm feeling a little overrun by my skincare stash lately, and think it's time to use some things up instead of constantly buying new products to try. Plus, I've been so happy with my current skincare routine (read about how I added glycolic acid HERE) and have seen such great results, that I'm also feeling the desire to streamline. I think I still need options, for example some days I want a gentle cleanser vs. something stronger...but in general, many products have fallen to the wayside and haven't been used in awhile in favor of the new kids in town. I'm also making an effort to be more thoughtful about my skincare purchases, and what better way to do that than to use what I already have!

***All items purchased by me.

Omorovicza Cleansing Foam, Omorovicza Gentle Buffing Cleanser, One Love Organics Apple A Day Brightening Facial Cleanser, Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask (original and champagne), Skin Beautiful Refining Micro-Peel Pads, Renee Rouleau Triple Berry Smoothing Peel

Here are the items I'm trying to use up...

Omorovicza Cleansing Foam - Review HERE. I had was in a major love affair with this cleanser for many, many months. I went through 2 tubes, was well into my 3rd tube and even bought a backup when there was a sale (3rd & 4th tubes are pictured above). However, somewhere along the way I starting using Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip again, and that was a slippery slope into trying a host of other cleansers. I had forgotten how much I loved Ceramic Slip, and found some other cleansers I really enjoyed. Plus, I dunno...it was just fun trying different things LOL! But here we are...I feel like I have too many cleansers on hand and I feel a bit wasteful with all of them sitting around. And they do go bad eventually, so there is that. Though I still love the luxurious feel of this cleanser and think it does a fantastic job, even on sale it's spendy - which I wouldn't necessarily mind except that I seem to go through it very quickly and that adds up.

Omorovicza Gentle Buffing Cleanser - I had samples of this and liked it enough to buy it, but after buying the full size...well...now I'm not so sure. Sometimes I feel like it leaves a film, sometimes it doesn't. Maybe that depends on how oily I've been that day or night? Sometimes it feels kinda stingy and scratchy, sometimes it doesn't. I do think it's a nice alternative to the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate, and seems to do a similarly good job of loosening dead skin...but overall...eh...can't put my finger on it but I'm just a little ambivalent about this exfoliator and I'm not sure it's worth the expense and obviously have a hard time putting it into words. I'm loving glycolic so much lately, that I'll probably end up finishing this on my body rather than my face...you know...impatience and all!

One Love Organics Apple A Day Brightening Facial Cleanser - Review HERE. I'm over 1/2 way through this bottle! I still really enjoy it, but since it was limited edition for the Summer I'm kinda over it and just want to finish it already.

Renee Rouleau Triple Berry Smoothing Peel - Mentioned HERE in the Treatments section. Having such luck with glycolic that I don't feel I need this anymore.

Skin Beautiful Refining Micro-Peel Pads - Mentioned HERE in the Treatments section. Another product I don't think I need anymore since using glycolic. If glycolic stops working as well then I would consider going back.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Original and Champagne - Review HERE. Ugh, ugh, ugh!!! I'm so annoyed with this one. I absolutely loooove this lip treatment/balm/mask/thingy but the packaging has not been good. Ok, the tube itself is fine, but once it gets to a certain point the coating on the tube starts flaking. Not so bad and it didn't bother me at first (the Champagne one is still in that stage where it's not a big deal)...but I've used the original one to the point where I've had to wrap it in tissue so that the tube flakes don't get on my fingers. Terrible. May not sound like a big deal, but whatever the flakes are made of doesn't come off my fingers very easily :-( Big sad face. It's so annoying that I've considered either chucking the tubes altogether or decanting the rest into a sample jar. Either way I won't be repurchasing these again, despite my love for the product inside. Back to La Mer I go.

Overall, I'm going to try to not buy any new or replenishment cleansers until I finish the Omorovicza Cleansing Foam and One Love Organics. The Renee Rouleau and Skin Beautiful treatments I'm hoping to have finished by the end of the year, as well as the Omorovicza Gentle Buffing Cleanser. The Bite Beauty Agave Lip Masks - ok, ok...in the interest of this post and using things properly I'll try the decanting method first...hopefully the product will be fine and I can get proper use out of them before buying another lip balm!

How is your skincare stash looking? Is there anything you are trying to finish?!!
