Dior Diorskin Forever Compact, Flawless Perfection Fusion Wear Makeup SPF25 in 021 Linen, $49/.35oz
I really tried to like this and used it off and on for about 2 months before finally deciding it's not for me. The color selection for my yellowy-slight beige undertone isn't good. The closest color match is Linen 021, and it's at least a full shade lighter (if not a little more) than I need. When first applied this makes me look very pale...on a good note though it does warm up after a good half hour and is *almost* a passable color match (actually no one noticed but me - ha ha). Which in this case I guess that's good, but for anyone else I suppose that would mean it oxidizes a fair amount. For this reason I didn't use any bronzer to try to get a better match - otherwise I would have looked way too dark!!!
The consistency is almost creamy and actually has a really nice, natural finish. The coverage is light to light/medium. This foundation emphasizes every dry patch and uneven spot on my skin. It also seems to wear off rather quickly, and it starts to crack and separate around my oily bits after 3 hours or so. The Associate who helped me with this foundation said it wears really well with primer. Is it just me or do you also think you shouldn't HAVE to use a primer if it's a good foundation match for your skin in the first place?!!
The only thing I haven't tried yet is using this as a finishing powder...hmmm...
A big nay for me. I will not be repurchasing. Very disappointing since I had read so many amazing reviews!!
Guerlain Meteorites Powder for the Face in 02 Teint Beige, $58/1.05oz
Oh the container is so beautiful!!!! Makes any dressing table or counter look that much better!
...then you open the container and the smell is soooo intoxicating and delicious...smells like Violets candy with a small hint of Sweet Tarts! Whenever I apply this powder I get a hint of the intoxicating smell throughout the day. Some don't like the scent, but not this chick...I LOVE it!!!
These are the basic Meteorites, and supposedly are the least sparkly/shimmery/satiny of any of them. Guerlain comes out with Limited Edition 'ballz' throughout the year.
This is a finishing powder meant to 'erase imperfections and soften features...for a flawless, radiant complexion' (from Sephora). Previous to January I had only used them a few sporadic times and didn't get what the hype was all about. In my year end 2012 Beauty Favorites post, I listed Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Natual Lighting Powder as one of my makeup favorites (here). After writing I thought KGD might be better than Meteorites, I decided to give Meteorites a fair shot. Since writing the Favorites post I've been using them nonstop!
Drumroll please...
I've discovered a new favorite!! I am finding the longer I used the Meteorites the more I like them...and they are performing exactly as the description! Ok I don't get an absolutely flawless finish because I don't have flawless skin, but I love what I see in the mirror :-) Are Meteorites better than KGD? Hmmm...tough call, and one I'm not going to make. Both are amazing and both have a place in my collection!
Are you a Meteorites lover??? What say you???
