I'm a lady in her 40's who loves her beauty products! No makeup makeup is my game & pretty packaging gets me every time, though I'm willing to forgive that with skincare (but only if the product is effective!).

I'm a Stewardess who prefers quiet spaces and places, but I could talk all beauty all the time! Please enjoy your visit!

July Birchbox Goodies

I was really excited to receive my first Birchbox back in April (seen here), but admittedly the only thing I really liked in it was the mini nail polish. Since then I have continually been disappointed. Soap?!! Band-Aids?!! ANOTHER perfume sample?!! Really?!! I dunno...I was under the illusion that by answering the profile questions, Birchbox was tailored to your tastes. I did a little research and found that's *somewhat* true. Seems every month there are well over a dozen variations of the box...so how come mine are so...just...ugh?! After the third bad box I changed a few of my profile questions. And TA DAAAAA!! July's box isn't as bad!

I won't show the whole box, but here are the items I am interested to tr

July's box featured favorite products from Glamour Magazine. L-R: amika Obliphica Nourishing Hair Mask, amika Obliphica Hair Oil Treatment, Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Olive, Boscia BB Cream. And this looks like it might actually be a full sized eyeliner.

Here are swatches of the Eyeko eyeliner in Olive and the Boscia BB Cream. The olive color is pretty dark, but I like that it's subtle. For the BB Cream I blended half of the line out so you can see how well it can be blended out and sheer into the skin (I sheered it out about an inch past the bottom line of the eyeliner).

Only problem is if you sheer out the color too much, I don't think you would get much moisture. If you layer more cream on top, you may have trouble with the color matching your skintone. There are also little specks of sparkle in the cream...on the swatch they seem to be barely there but I'm not so certain how a face full of it would look? Check out the video below to see what I mean...I took the video in a lower light to try to catch the sparkle a bit better, and it helps if you change the settings to 720p HD in the lower right corner :-)

Oh, hey...this is my first YouTube video...ha ha!! Don't worry - I won't quit my day job anytime soon!!

Back to Birchbox. I'm giving it two more months to see if I like the contents as much as this month. A full six month is a fair go I think!! I'm keeping fingers crossed, but am also fully prepared to hit the cancel button. What do you think?
