My last Makeup Collection post, HERE, was a little over a year ago. 

I've done a sh*t ton of purging toward the end of last year and over the last many months. Of course, that's somewhat normal around here, but I feel I've outdone myself this time! Originally I intended to make a series out of the Revisiting My Collection post so that I could get some feedback on my whole purging process and reasoning, but at some point the bees in my bonnet were in full-on BUZZ mode and I couldn't wait. Suddenly I had to get rid of stuff that second. Anyway this post shows what is left (plus some purchases from this year). 

It's strange...it all stemmed from the feeling that I just wanted to start over. Do you ever get like that?? And starting completely over isn't realistic, so I guess I figured if I could get to a somewhat bare bones collection then it would feel close enough to a refresh to get me excited again.

And I do feel like I need some excitement in my makeup life (that's part of the reason I've been more into skincare). Or maybe it's just the makeup and subsequent beauty blog world in general. It all seems the same. Everyone talks about the same stuff. Everyone promotes the same stuff. Everyone LOVES the same stuff. Ads everywhere. I feel like the blogging/vlogging world is one big beauty magazine now. Which, I'm not naive...I know people are always trying to sell me stuff. But there's a loss of authenticity in the air and it seems like most are coming from some sort of angle. I'm not sure exactly what I'm trying to say, but maybe you kind of know what I'm talking about??? Anyway, sorry - that's a tangent for another post!

I'm still utilizing The Container Store acrylic boxes I talked about in THIS post. The shelf unit in that post is also still working for me, though I've been able to make it a little 'prettier' and add other things since I cleared so much out and reorganized/rearranged my office.

I do have samples of the Armani Fluid Sheer and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal - I don't count them as part of my collection but still have them in the space to make sure I use them.

• Chantecaille Protect the Wolves Ella Cheek Shade (lower left pic) - If I'm not wearing Frantic Pink, I'm wearing this. It's exactly what I wanted Tarte Exposed to be on me but better (better texture & blendability)! I only bought it this year and already have a dip in it - see the pic?! Not to worry...I have backups. Ha ha :-P 
• *NARS Cream Blush in Penny Lane - Amazingly this still has life, though I rarely use it because I'm too scared for it to be gone...you know...because it's my favorite blush color of all time. Chantecaille Ella is very close (and probably the closest I've come yet to having a powder dupe), but not quite there. 
• *NARS Blush in Douceur

This is a good chunk of where the purging happened. I only have 2 shadows now. TWO. Many of you know how I've struggled on and off with shadows - not because I don't love them, but simply because I don't wear them. Every once in a great while I'll add a little something (which is where the 2 remaining shadows come in), but mostly I prefer my lids to look clean and polished - I usually add a little highlighter. My current favorite is to add the Becca SSP in Opal, and top it off with a little bit of the Laura Mercier Matte Baked Radiance in Highlight 01. 

I actually still have most of the purged shadows in my possession. They are sitting in the blog sale pile. But I'm having doubts, which is why no official blog sale has happened yet. Not doubting that I won't wear them, but UGH it feels like I spent awhile collecting all the beautiful shades and narrowing them down to the ones with the best formula and color. It's hard to let go. That's all. So much so that I've contemplated trying to do makeup on other people simply so I can use them. Le sigh...
