Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick

As mentioned, HERE, one of my friends brought back some Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets from Europe for me. I couldn't decide on just a few colors, so I asked for quite a lot since they were a lot less than I normally pay for lipsticks. I've had awhile to play with them, and here are my thoughts!

I don't normally go for drugstore lipsticks (mainly because of packaging - sorry!!), but I've had a hankering for these Bourjois lipsticks for a long time thanks to how often they show up on UK blogs/videos! I was so excited to try these, and I have not been disappointed!!

This formula is SO good!!! It's lightweight, has almost a cushion to it and provides just enough moisture that I can wear it all day and it feels comfortable. If it was more nourishing it would be a love, but I think that's just the nature of liquid lipsticks.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets have traditional doe foot applicators, which make for a clean yet soft line. The color migrates a little after a few hours (I wouldn't say feather necessarily, the line just gets super soft and strays), so I like to use a lip pencil if I will be wearing them all day. They are pigmented enough to leave a stain, and the intensity depends on the color. They can wear off a little unevenly, but this can be remedied by applying more than 1 thin layer and letting the color dry down between layers.

These definitely provide a velvety matte finish. If you want a hardcore matte, you may not care for this finish. I love it though, because it doesn't accentuate every single nook and cranny in my lips!

Here are the the colors, heavily swatched and in sunlight. I forgot to let these dry down before taking the picture, so the finish here looks quite moist...but these do in fact end up being velvet matte.

Overall, the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets are the best liquid lipstick formula I've tried (out of Chanel, Laura Mercier, Kat Von D, Sephora brand). My favorite colors of the bunch are Grand Cru, Plum Plum Girl, Ole Flamingo and Nude-ist! If you can get your hands on these, they are definitely worth trying out.
