Herbivore Pink Clay Cleansing Bar Soap

I've been interested in exploring the Herbivore line after seeing their Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist here and there on blogs and Instagram. When I was ready to make an actual purchase, the Mist was OOS on Sephora so I decided to get the Pink Clay Cleansing Bar Soap instead - you know, just so I could try something!!

Herbivore Pink Clay Cleansing Bar Soap

Herbivore Pink Clay Cleansing Bar Soap, $12/4oz @ Sephora, herbivorebotanicals.com, Etsy. Urban Outfitters carries some of the line, but as of this writing this particular item isn't listed on the site. It looks like the full line is only available at the Herbivore Botanicals site or through their Easy shop. If you sign up for emails on their company site, you'll get a code for 10% off.

I love the packaging. It's simple, clean, hint of feminine without being cutesy or girly...reminds me a little of the Rodin aesthetic, but I like Herbivore's more because they sometimes add the color blocking.

I found the full bar to be a little too big to handle comfortably, so I cut it into smaller chunks. Definitely easier to handle, plus I think it helps preserve the product a little longer.

About the Pink Clay Cleansing Bar Soap, from the Herbivore Botanicals site:

French Pink Clay is a very gentle clay known for drawing out impurities without drying your skin. This is a truly beautifying and skin softening face and body soap. Pink Clay soap is refreshing with its citrus and floral scent, and has a silky smooth texture. This soap is especially suited to sensitive or dry skin types but also works well as a face and body soap for most skin types.

This gives a somewhat squeaky-clean feel, but true to the description I don't feel it actually strips my skin. That's to say it doesn't leave my skin tight, dry or funny...it just feels clean...and soft! The scent is nice and light. I don't quite smell the citrus, but I do smell a faint floral...definitely not strong or overpowering.

I use this as a second cleanse (and with a baby washcloth or muslin) - it's not potent enough to remove makeup. If you don't get much buildup overnight you can probably use it in the morning, but that's not me so if I use this in the morning I have to pre-cleanse first. I haven't used it on my body yet.

Overall, I find this to be a really nice, simple cleanser and I always look forward to using it. No huge claims - straightforward with ingredients you can actually pronounce. Sometimes my skin needs a break from the stronger exfoliators, acids and other treatments and this is a great cleanser to turn to! I really want to try the other 2 Herbivore soaps next - the Blue Clay and Bamboo Charcoal ones. If you're interested, the Herbivore site has the set of all 3 that's a little cheaper than buying all three separately, HERE
