Mini Review: Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm

Aaaaah...I finally caved and bought the blogger favorite, Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm. I'm not really sure how that happened, as I was trying to abstain from purchasing another balm until I had finished at least one of my Bite Beauty Agave Lip Masks! Famous and dangerous last words, eh?!!!

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm, $19 beauty.com, amazon.com

This comes in a really nice and weighty glass jar, so I feel like I'm getting a higher end product than the $19 would suggest! Downside is that it's kinda bulky and not as great to travel with. That's ok...we do need lip balm at home too! That's also what decanting is for!

Off the bat this is nourishing, and I can actually feel my lips becoming more hydrated the longer I wear this balm. It has a matte finish, and when very lightly applied can make for a good lipstick prep and/or base. It's thick, but not in a goopy way and it also lasts through the night extremely well.

I don't find this quite as reparative or soothing as my favorite, La Mer Lip Balm, but for $19 and less than 1/2 the price, I think it packs quite a punch. The only downside is the scent. EW. I don't like it at all. The mix of honey and grapefruit makes it smell like oranges...but that kind of orange scent you find in household cleaning products. Of course, it doesn't bother many people since it's a favorite for a ton of bloggers...but ugh...I don't like. Not sure if I can tolerate it enough to finish the container, though I'll give it my best shot. I've made a good dent in it already, so hopefully I can keep trudging.

I'd repurchase this in a heartbeat if not for the scent!
