Mini Reviews: Caudalie Premieres Vendages Moisturizing Cream, and Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Masque

Caudalie Premieres Vendages Moisturizing Cream, $35/1.35oz

I don't know how to put this nicely, so I won't. I'm very disappointed by this product. I have not been this let down by a skincare product in awhile, especially by a brand with such high regard as Caudalie.

On the Sephora site, this is described as 'a velvety hydrator the preserves and protects skin's youthful, glowing appearance'. This led me to believe it should have been at least moderately hydrating (how else am I supposed to get that glow?!!), and leave my skin soft. These are not wild claims by any means, and seemed to fit what I was looking for - a hydrating, basic moisturizer with a touch a ooompf. By ooompf I mean the glowy skin!

I did NOT find this hydrating in the least, and instead found the more I used it the more dehydrated my skin became. While the cream felt nice going on, the moisture was fleeting at best. After a couple of weeks' use it left my skin with a strange scaly feeling that I wouldn't in my craziest dreams call velvety...nor soft...and most definitely not glowy!!! A big fail for me, short and not so sweet.

Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Masque $40/5.5 oz

DDF discontinued my HG of overnight spot treatments - their version of a sulfur mask if anyone still has some or remembers it! Argh...I completely loved this stuff and was so bummed when I heard the news. The hunt was on to find a replacement!!

Luckily, I've been loving my first attempt which is the Peter Thomas Roth Sulfur Therapeutic Masque. In terms of a spot treatments, it is almost as amazing as the DDF at kicking pimples where it counts :-) Especially if I can catch a spot right when I first feel or see it, this greatly improves healing time - very often it even prevents a spot from turning into a full blown pimple.

This has a softer texture and is not quite as drying as the DDF.

The only slightly negative thing I can say about this product is that it doesn't have quite the sticking power as the DDF did. If you are using this as an overnight spot treatment, this has a tendency to flake off a bit if you don't apply it just right.

Other than the sticking power, I think I'm pretty happy with this replacement!!! Plus, you get a good amount of product for your $$ - this jar should last for ages! If you are looking for an option other than the DDF sulfur mask as well, definitely check this one out and ask for a sample :-)
